10 Reasons to Love Hive Beach
Discover the magic of Hive Beach on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. Bring your favourite coastal memories home.
There are places in nature that draw you back again and again. For me, Hive Beach in Dorset is one of them.
Hive Beach is part of the spectacular Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. A beautiful golden beach, dramatic cliffs and views that stretch towards Golden Cap. There is always something here that makes you stop, breathe and appreciate the natural world. The sea can be crashing against the shore on a windy day or gently lapping at the beach on a summer afternoon.
Here are ten reasons to fall in love with this special place.
1. Dramatic Jurassic Coast cliffs
The towering cliffs are a reminder of the power of nature. Shaped by wind, waves and time, they are constantly changing. Each visit offers something a little different.
2. A beautiful golden beach
Hive Beach is a wonderful place to wander along the shore. Explore the textures of the rocks, or simply sit and enjoy the view.
3. The fresh, salty air
Take a deep breath and feel the sea air on your face. Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the ones that stay with us longest.
4. The exhilaration of a windy day
Listen to the waves crash against the shore and feel the power of the sea. There is something invigorating about being outside when nature shows its wilder side.
5. The calm of a summer's day
When the sea is still and the sun is warm, Hive Beach becomes a peaceful place to slow down, relax and enjoy the moment.
6. Coffee and cake at Hive Beach Café
After a walk along the beach, you can enjoy a coffee, cake or something delicious to eat at the popular Hive Beach Café.
7. Beautiful coastal walks
The South West Coast Path offers opportunities to explore the coast on foot. Enjoy the views, listen to the sea and discover the landscape at your own pace.
8. An easy day out
The National Trust car park makes visiting easy. There are facilities including toilets and picnic benches to make a day by the sea even easier. Check local arrangements before travelling.
9. Views towards Golden Cap
Look along the Jurassic Coast towards Golden Cap. This is the highest point on England's south coast. The sweeping coastline is a reminder of how extraordinary our natural world can be.
10. A chance to reconnect with nature
Perhaps the greatest reason to love Hive Beach is the feeling it gives you. Whether you walk, take photographs or sit and watch the waves, give yourself time to enjoy being here.
Take the magic of Hive Beach home
I keep coming back to photograph this coastline. The photographs of Burton Cliff and Burton Beach are old favourites. You can find them in my Breathtaking – The Jurassic Coast Collection. They capture the views, textures and changing moods that make this place so special to me.
I hope they bring a feeling of awe and wonder for you, too.
If Hive Beach holds a special place in your heart, or you are feel inspired to take a visit, why not bring a little of that feeling home?
Explore Breathtaking – The Jurassic Coast Collection. You will find landscape prints available to order. They can be purchased as framed or canvas prints for your home or workplace.
Sometimes, a photograph is more than a picture of a place. It is a way to reconnect with how being there made you feel.
